Alana Boltwood has been making hexagons into curves since 2014 when she invented six new sexes & genders (Hexasexual).  Recently she has been stitching and weaving more hexagons, a resilient structure to stay strong in the face of uncertainty, as shown in her 2025 Fibroihex exhibit about aging queerly.  Alana is now expanding her hexagonal world to another galaxy, creating a HexaKosmos of creatures experiencing alienation.

Alana’s big art projects range from the intellectual to the satirical, often from a queer feminist perspective. She likes to synthesize many art mediums, including soft sculpture, ceramics, acrylics, collage, photography, digital design, as well as poetry & prose. She is a settler in Tkaronto (Toronto, Canada) who studied at the Toronto School of Art.

At OCAD University, she earned a Master of Design in Strategic Foresight and Innovation, which she applies in both the business and art worlds. She volunteers on the boards of mental health organizations.
