Intersectionality

This series of works explored the feminist concept of intersectionality.  These were experiments to uncover new meanings of “intersection” in mathematics, statistics and politics, using verbal, visual and technical languages.  The artist’s personal experiences with categorization, marginalization and privilege are brought to the surface.

The series was exhibited at a Simon Fraser University conference of Intersectionality academics in 2014. Some of the paintings and collages have been used for book covers and academic presentations. Please contact Alana for permission to reprint images.
